GDPR Consent Plugin - Features
[/av_section]
We spent a long time discussing exactly what you need to make it possible for your WordPress site to comply with the GDPR legislation. WordPress has not been designed in a way that makes it easy to tailor a site to individual, anonymous users needs and consents. The resulting plugin has been cleverly constructed to request consents where needed without requiring a total rewrite of your website’s code.

Define Unique Consents For Your Site
No two websites are the same. You will need to request consents that are specifically applicable to your website. The GDPR Consent Plugin lets you define exactly which consents you want to request of your visitors, allowing you to present a clear overview of unique required and optional consents for your visitors to interact with.

Disallow plugins based on given consents
You’re site may contain plugins that automatically include javascripts from external sites or place cookies that are not directly needed for the functioning of the site. For these cases the plugin allows you to exclude selected plugins as long as the associated consent has not been given bij the site visitor. Very practical for preventing analytics plugins or social sharing button plugins from placing cookies on a visitors computer or mobile device without their consent.

Include scripts on a consent-only basis
GDPR requires you to only place cookies or track site visitors if they have explicitely given you consent to do this. In the context of WordPress it is near impossible to serve a continuously changing mix of scripts based on a visitors set of given consents. This plugin lets you setup each Google Analytics, Tagmanager, Facebook and many more scripts and only include them if a specific consent is given.

Place your permission dialog anywhere
You get to choose where exactly you want to show the available consents that a visitor may extend to your website. A simple shortcode allows you to include the request for consents directly on your homepage or on a subpage reachable straight from the notification bar that comes with the plugin. Want to include the consents dialog in your privacy statement? Now you can.

Preserve Caching for Default Privacy Settings
The GDPR introduces a new challenge as it expects you to tailor your webpages to what a visitor will allow you to show or do. This is in contrast with the current deeply embedded caching strategies to enhance delivery speed of a website. The plugin allows all ‘base level’ visitors to have a cached experience while serving a mix of pages to users that have opted to extent consent to you.
